Ice Cube Claims Donald Trump’s ICE Raids in L.A. Aim to ‘Traumatize’ Residents: ‘Nobody’s Safe, Man’ Do you like this personality? The rapper and actor is standing firmly with immigrant families affected by recent Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) operations in his hometown of Los Angeles.
During an interview on REAL 92.3 LA’s The Cruz Show, posted Thursday (Aug. 7), Ice Cube voiced his frustration with what he described as the federal government’s “heavy-handed” approach toward immigrant communities. He expressed solidarity with the wider Latino population, many of whom are living in fear as a result of these aggressive tactics.
“It hurts, because there’s so many different situations going on with immigration,” he said. “To see people disrespected like that, and the federal government just being too heavy-handed—going to churches, weddings, even schools to grab people—it’s like, ‘Come on, man, y’all are overdoing it.’”
“Nobody’s Safe”
Ice Cube believes the purpose of these raids goes beyond deportation. He suggested that the real goal is to instill fear across all Latinx communities in the U.S., regardless of citizenship status.
“Nobody’s safe, man,” he stated. “They don’t care who they grab. It’s sad. They come in and disrespect everybody. They want to traumatize people, too.”
He added, “It’s just sad, man. I can’t wait ’til this period is over. I don’t know how we’re going to get there, but it’s crazy to see people dragged out of their places of refuge.”
Protests and Escalating Tensions in L.A.
The interview comes amid heightened tensions in Los Angeles, sparked in June by protests against President Donald Trump’s mass deportation policies. The unrest intensified when the National Guard was deployed to assist in ICE raids across the city.
Ice Cube joins a growing list of celebrities—including Tyler, The Creator, Olivia Rodrigo, Billie Joe Armstrong, and Kehlani—who have spoken out against the sweeps in recent months.
Raids Continue Despite Court Ruling
Although a federal appeals court recently upheld a judge’s order blocking the Trump administration from conducting indiscriminate immigration arrests in the city, U.S. Border Patrol agents have continued their operations.
Just one day before Cube’s interview, agents reportedly jumped out of a rented truck and arrested individuals at a Home Depot in Los Angeles. Officials dubbed the mission “Operation Trojan Horse,” according to the Associated Press.
