While Over in the USA Rihaana Destroyed SB Half Time Show, Champions League Fans Left Divided Over Choice of Artist

What are NFL fans excited about other than the Super Bowl finals? It is the Super Bowl half-time show! Over the years, the league has had many known musical personas performed at the esteemed half-time show during the finals. Names like Jennifer Lopez, Shakira, Justin Timberlake, Beyonce, Bruno Mars, and even Eminem have had spectacularly successful halftime shows. And these performances stay engraved like beautiful memories in the minds of the NFL world.

While Over in the USA Rihaana Destroyed SB Half Time Show, Champions League Fans Left Divided Over Choice of ArtistMost recently, Barbados babe Rihanna left fans enchanted with her Super Bowl LVII show. Her performance not only marked her return to live performances after a 5-year hiatus, but it was also the most-watched half-time show with over 121 million viewers. Not only this, she went on to become the 4th most popular artist in the world with over 80 million monthly listeners on Spotify after her performance. While the NFL is known to treat their half-time show with the same enthusiasm as their games, can you guess who graced the pre-game festivities of this year’s UEFA Champions League?

While NFL fans will reminisce about the performances of Rihanna and Eminem, soccer fans were in for a different kind of treatment during the UEFA Champions League finals. The finals saw Manchester City defeat Inter Milan 1-0 to lift the trophy for the first time. This win also meant that the City secured a treble, winning the Premier League, FA Cup, and Champions League in the same season. But this was not the only highlight of the finals in Istanbul.

Fans were in for a musical night when they saw famous Nigerian singer Burna Boy perform at the pre-game festivities. For those of you who don’t know, Burna Boy is Grammy Winning artist. He is known for his global hits such as ‘Last Last’ and ‘It’s plenty’. And with his UEFA Champions League debut, Burna Boy becomes the first Nigerian artist to become the opening act on one of soccer’s greatest nights.

But not everyone was satisfied with Burna Boy becoming the headline performer at the Champions League festivities. Soccer fans were left feeling divided over the choice of artist, while Manchester City went on to lift the trophy.

Fans have mixed reactions to Burna Boy’s performance

Soccer fans took to social media to share their divided opinion of the Nigerian artist gracing the stage for UEFA Champions League.

Some fans claimed they did not even recognize the artist,

    “We don’t know him”

“No one knows who this is😭😭”

“I don’t know who he is, but good for him”

“I have no idea who this is….”

While others were left in awe over Burna Boy’s takeover of the Champions League final
